In a recent article on aging, the physician writing their article stated a personal trainer is good because they are upbeat, encouraging and make sure you are exercising properly and safely. That's why I continue going to Angie. She's upbeat, encouraging and knowledgeable about nutrition as well as exercise and she is definitely FUN!! Under her training, I have maintained my weight and continued to build lean muscle mass. For someone 65, that is really a plus!!
For women over 50, weight lifting is among the best things we can do to not only maintain lean muscle but to maintain our total musculo-skeletal health. Bone health is of utmost importance in this age group and weight lifting helps us gain bone, muscle and balance, all of which help in the prevention of falls. It is a win-win situation.
