What’s in your vitamins?!

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Recently I was having a follow up nutrition consultation with one of my clients.  I noticed, using the BIA, that her toxic load had been increasing.  I went over the list of possible suspects: excess caffeine? ‘no’, artificial sweetners? ‘no’,  pain medication? ‘no’,  antibiotics? ‘no’….  hmmm.  New prescription? ‘no’.   I was stumped.  She then preceded to show me the vitamins she has been taking that she bought from a vitamin shop.  She thought they should be good because there was a doctor’s name on it.  I asked her if she knew the doctor and she said ‘no’.  I then asked to look at the ingredient list.  BINGO! We found the toxic ingredients she had been consuming!  Inside her multivitamin was food colorings (red #40, blue #2, yellow #5), sugar (why? She was swallowing these pills!), many carbonate forms of vitamins (calcium carbonate is not absorbable and is known to cause bone spurs! Carbonate is the cheapest form available, which translates to more profit for Mr. Doctor!), and, the icing on the cake, TALC!

Yes, you heard me – Talc, the stuff you put on baby’s butts.  I couldn’t understand why talc would be in a multivitamin so I looked it up in one of my favorite books, “Food Additives” by Ruth Winter, M.S.  This is what Ruth says about talc:

TALC Fresh chalk. Magnesium Silicate. The lumps are known as soapstone of steatite. An anticaking agent added to vitamin supplements to render a free flow; also to chewing-gum base. Gives a slippery sensation to powders and creams. Talc is finely powdered native magnesium silicate, a mineral. The main ingredient of baby and bath powders, face powders, eye shadows, liquid powders, protective creams, dry rouges, face masks, foundation cake makeups, skin freshners, foot powders, and face creams. It usually has small amounts of other powders such as boric acid or zinc oxide added as a coloring agent. Prolonged inhalation can cause lung problems because it is similar in chemical composition to asbestos, a known lung irritant and cancer-causing agent.  There is no known acute toxicity, but there is a question about it being a cancer-causing agent upon ingestion.  It is suspected that the high incidence of stomach cancer among the Japanese is due to the fact that the Japanese prefer that their rice be treated with talc.  Talc is not considered food grade by the FDA as it contains asbestiform minerals.  GRAS.

Wow!  Maybe you should take a look at your vitamins if you aren’t buying them from me.  At Angie’s World, we only carry the purest products that are GMP (good manufacturing practice) certified and NSF (national standard federation) certified. These certifications mean that third parties go into the supplement companies manufacturing plants to make sure that the place is clean (free of bugs, debris, etc.) and that each pill you take gives you exactly the dose it claims on the bottle.  Without third party testing you are rely on the vitamin company to tell you the truth.   How honest do you think Mr. Doctor is?

How to turn every task into fun

Do you find yourself with things you just know have to be done but the thought of doing them fills you with a feeling of gloom, boredom or you just can’t be bothered even thogh you know you “should” do them?

When this happens, first ask yourself – why do I need to do this? what positive effect will doing this have for me?

It may be that you are about to peel a host of potatoes and carrots and you just don’t like doing that but the positive outcome is that you are going to have a fantastic meal – thinking of the fantastic meal as you peel the potatoes will make you feel much better and will give the task a postive reason rather than a feeling of boredom as you do it.

You can also turn a monotonous, boring task into fun! – How?

Make a game out of it!

For example, time yourself and keep trying to improve your time.

Let’s say you have to peel 30 potatotes and carrots to peel

See how many potatoes you can peel in 3 minutes. Then try to beat your own record.

Or you can time yourself to see how long it takes you to peel one potatoe. And beat your record again!

The good thing is you will always be a winner. ;)

You can turn any boring task into fun game, there are lots of ways to do it, just use a little imagination!

Making tasks fun and keeping the positive benefits of doing a task in yoru mind as you do it is proven to increase motivation and productivity by more than 125%!

Build fun and see the positive outcomes of everything you do throughtout the day and you’ll notice that you’re getting more work done in a less amount of time.

Have a great day and remember to smile and notice all the wonderful things around you!

Can’t figure out what’s ailing you

By Tammy Fish, HN

I have to tell you about some incredible things I have been finding by using the BioMeridian equipment. I had a patient that I was working with recently who was in her late 70’s. She had been dealing with many health issues and couldn’t quite figure out what all was ailing her. It seemed that no matter what she would do, nothing could help her feel better. So after taking her health history, etc., one of the questions I ask her was if she had ever been out of the country. Well her answer was a simple “No,” I haven’t been anywhere in quite some time.” Well, I had a sneaking suspicion that something might turn up anyhow so I went ahead and tested her with her permission. Well low and behold, just as we had suspected “we found parasites!” Well when I told her what I had found and read where they possibly had originated from which was “the middle east”, her reply was “Oh yell, I was in the middle east last year for an entire month and the first week I was so sick I thought I was going to die! No one could tell me what was wrong, so I had to stay in bed and wait until it ran its course. I just figured it was a really bad flu bug or food poisoning!” My reply was “Silvia, how could you forget that?” With that she replied “well Tammy, it wasn’t something I wanted to remember!” J Needless to say, we put her on the proper protocol for what she had and miraculously a great deal of her health issues have already begun to dissipate! We will periodically retest her to make sure they are gone, but in the meantime she’s gotten long overdue answers to those health issues she couldn’t quite put her finger on! This state of the art alternative medical equipment from Europe is an incredible tool and one that everyone can and should be tested on.

Are You making positive changes in your life everyday?

Do you enjoy making changes in your life, (I have some great tools and special offers for you later in this email as well as hints and tips on making changes the easy way so do read on)

do you enjoy facing changes that are imposed on you?

How do you deal with change?

Some of us deal with change easily and embrace change, as it gives us variety and excitement, others of us feel wary of change, don’t like to leave our comfort zones and try new things or have new ways put upon us.

The world is though, always changing, nothing stays the same, we are on a continuous circle or wheel throughout our lives, sometimes we are at the top, other times we are at the bottom and the rest of the time we are in-between.

If we wait for change to be imposed on us – this is when it can be really difficult as we have not asked for it, perhaps were not waiting for it, do not want it. evertheless if it is imposed we have to del with it.

So how can we accept changes imposed on us more easily, how can we look forward to change and see it as an opportunity, an exciting journey, something to embrace?

Th first thing you can do is to start making changes for yourself, instead of simply waiting for them to be imposed on you. Try it starting today, think of one small thing that you can change in yoru life that will make your life better, easier, more fun.

It may be something as simple as changing the colour of our lipstick, or your tie. It may be something like changing what you eat for breakfast or trying a new drink.

It doesnt matter what it is as long as it is a change, something that you normally wouldn’t do.

When you make the change, listen to your thoughts, take note of what you feel and how you feel, do you feel confident, scared, apprehensive, excited?

What was the effect of the change on your day?

Practice making one change – whether small or big – everyday and you wll soon notice a difference in your life and will soon look for new things to do, new ways of doing things and will find yourself wanting to make bigger and more dramatic changes for yourself in your life.

As you begin to feel comfortable making your own changes and start to look forward to making changes, when changes are imposed on you they will no longer be the dreaded things in your life but they will become things that excite you and that you know you can deal with easily and effortlessly.

To your every success
Carol
